Build the tutor in the room

Archimedes is a small team making patient educational software for parents, students, and teachers. The work is the tutor, the skill map behind it, and the quieter hardware we intend to put in real rooms. Open roles will be listed on this page. There are none posted yet.

The work

A student brings a problem. The reply is short, on that problem, and willing to wait. Someone has to keep that promise in the writing of the tutor, in the curriculum graph that says what must come first, and in the product a parent actually opens after dinner. That is the job: make the next step obvious without handing over the answer, and make the software calm enough to live beside a child.

The same care applies to the map of skills. Prerequisites stay visible. A unit is not finished because a session felt good. We would rather a family see a stuck point than a score that flatters them. Hardware comes later, and only after the software has shown how children actually grow.

Who this is for

People who have taught, or who have sat with a child through homework that went wrong. Engineers who would rather remove a feature than add one. Designers who can make a page feel quiet. Writers who can say one clear thing and stop. Researchers who will argue with a curriculum instead of decorating it.

You do not need to have built an education company. You do need to care that a child is safe, that a parent can tell what is happening, and that a teacher’s sequence is not replaced by whatever the model felt like saying.

How we work

The team is small on purpose. Decisions stay close to the people who talk to families and to the people who change the tutor. We write things down. We try a lesson before we praise it. We do not ship a reward loop, a streak, or a feed to keep someone in the chair.

Time is for the work and for the people doing it. If a role opens, the description will say what you would actually spend the week on, who you would work with, and how we pay. We will not ask for a take-home that is really our product.
